El embajador ruso ante la ONU, Vasili Nebenzia, ha denunciado este domingo el doble rasero de Estados Unidos y sus aliados, que piden ahora condenar el ataque iraní contra Israel de la pasada noche mientras se han negado a condenar los constantes bombardeos israelíes sobre Siria, Líbano o la Franja de Gaza.
"Reaccionasteis instantánea y públicamente y condenasteis las acciones de Irán. Es lamentable que entonces [...] pidierais más evaluaciones [...] cuando nosotros nos pusimos a condenar inequívocamente estas acciones imprudentes para asegurar que no se repitieran", ha argumentado el embajador ruso. "Estados Unidos, Reino Unido y Francia básicamente se negaron a confirmar el principio básico del Derecho Internacional sobre la inviolabilidad de las dependencias diplomáticas y consulares consagrado en las Convenciones de Viena."
"Si hubiese sido atacada una representación diplomática occidental habrían llovido las represalias y los argumentos de que estáis en lo cierto en esta misma sala", remarcando también que el ataque iraní ha ocurrido en medio de la "lamentable pasividad del Consejo de Seguridad".

It is regrettable that you then [...] asked for more evaluations [...] when we began to unequivocally condemn these reckless actions to ensure that they were not repeated," argued the Russian ambassador. "The United States, the United Kingdom and France basically refused to confirm the basic principle of International Law on the inviolability of diplomatic and consular offices enshrined in the Vienna Conventions."
"If a Western diplomatic representation had been attacked, there would have been reprisals and arguments that you are right in this very room," also highlighting that the Iranian attack has occurred amid the "regrettable passivity of the Security Council."
