Asumir responsabilidad, ofrecer protección, practicar la justicia y actuar en obediencia… Éstas son cuatro actitudes esenciales de San José, que son un ejemplo a imitar para todos, y, de forma especial, nos muestran algo de la forma varonil de seguir al Señor.
Le bastó con escuchar estas palabras del ángel para inmediatamente obedecer: "José, hijo de David, no temas recibir a María, tu esposa, porque lo que en ella ha sido concebido es obra del Espíritu Santo."
Este canto, que se entona durante la comunión en la Solemnidad de hoy, pone melodía a estas precisas palabras del ángel:

It was enough for him to hear these words of the angel to immediately obey: “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is [a]conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit."
